The Super 7W Story - is now growing!!!

I was thinking, that with the writing of narratives in our class and the "relative" success of the fold over stories, that we should have a go at writing a class narrative.

Here's how it works. Below is a story starter, chosen from the suggestions at the back of the classroom. All you have to do is suggest the next sentence or two and it will be added to the story. As we go along, the story will build into an epic that we can be (fingers crossed) proud of.

Either that, or it will an epic failure.

So lets's begin!

THE GIFT

A man stopped me on the way home from school. He looked me in the eye and said, "Here's $1000 in $50 bills. Use it to make others happy."
At first I had no idea of what had just happened but to my surprise there it was, a briefcase full of real money. If anyone was to be this lucky it shouldn't have been me, I was a bad-luck magnet, but this did happen to me. Wow! I thought this money would buy me the new skateboard I want! Hang on a sec, he told me 2 use it 2 make others happy. I guess buying a skateboard 4 me wouldn’t make many other people happy.

"Watcha got there buddy", yelled someone from across the street. I didn’t look up and started walking home.

Should I tell anybody? Would they take it off me? Did I really have to use it to makes others happy or is that just what the old man wanted me to do? I wasn't sure. I kept walking until I reached the little yellow house on the corner of Ipan Street. I wasn't going to tell mum, not yet anyway.

The door was always unlocked so I walked straight in. My mum wouldn't notice the briefcase she only paid attention to what I had to say when I got home from school. “Liam, is that you?" yelled my mum. She must have been marking homework. She was a teacher, but she had been sick today so she didn't go to work.
“Yes mum it's me". I called back. I put the brief case in my room and went into mum’s office as she liked to call it.
“Mum you’re sick you should be in bed," I told her.
“No. I have to work and get this done. Besides I feel fine," she said.
“Sure, sure," I muttered. I went back to my room.

The next day, I ran over to an orphanage and gave them $499.99 and then gave the rest to a cancer foundation. Ok I'm going to tell the truth. I only gave $1.50 to them both of the charities. I can't wait to spend my money.
After school I went to the shops. I'd spent some of my money on my brand new skate board and second-hand small T.V for my room I went home. As I walked through the door I knew my mum would not be home she played tennis on Tuesday nights. I made myself bakebeans on toast for dinner and set up my new T.V. I decided to 'hit the hay' early tonight. I started to dream I was in a movie theratre watching some sort of movie but then the movie screen changed it was a small girl with blonde hair but it didn't look blonde from all the dirt in it and she was in very old looking tatered clothes."Liam, Liam help us we need your help! HELP us Liam". The girl called. Then it changed to what looked like a mother and child."Liam please helps us we can't stay like this much longer. Help us please". Said the woman. Then I woke up. It was a dream, it was a dream. I chanted to myself. But it was more than that. I looked at the clock 1:00am, bummer it had to be that early. I went back to sleep. I woke up at 6:30am mum would be leaving to go to work about now. After getting morning chores out of the way I left the house and started walking down the street. I arrived at the bus stop to find my best friend Bradly waiting for me."What's Up?". He asked in a all to ganster voice."Meh". I replied."I had this really funny dream last night".I said as I sat down next to him."What 'bout?". Bradly asked."These people were telling me to help them".I told him.He only replied with on word."weird".He said. this would be the end of the coversation. Then he started telling me about flying Elephants or something I wasn't really paying attention.

At school all I could think about was the woman and the child. Then it clicked in my head. Did they mean to help with the money? or was it just the baked beans on toast making me have a bad dream. If it was true that they needed my help, I had to find them. after the last bell rang a packed up my stuff and ran out the door without being dismist. I didn't care what the teacher was yelling out to me as I sprinted down the hall. I had to find them i repeated. I didn't have to get home because mum wasn't there on wednesday after noons, she tutered a kid called timmy. running down to the local supermarket to try to find the woman or child. I knew it was hopless but i had to try. I reach a street that i had never been down before and never acually ever payed much attention to. It was called "Winaford Place". I walked down it slowly. There are a few very old houses. Soon I come to a opened house. Then I realise there's a sign above it. It's not a house it's a homeless sheltert. could it be where the woman and child are!?

No! There was no way that those people in my dream could, no, would existce. It was deffently the bakebeans. As much as I wanted to turn aroung and go back home, but my legs kept moving and I couldn't stop them. I walked straight in without even thinking. I didn't know what to exepect inside but deffinity not what was there. Everywhere I looked it was just, oh i don't know, lifeless. I Saw numous people in the room. There was a old women tending to a small child, when I pered around her I recongised the small blonde girl in my dream. She looked at me with her big blue eyes.

Homework for term 2 week 2

Read the following. What do you think Heinze should have done? Explain your reasoning. If you disagree with someone's response, agrue against them.

In Europe, a woman was near death from a special kind of cancer. There was one drug that the doctors thought might save her. It was a form of radium that a druggist in the same town had recently discovered. The drug was expensive to make, but the druggist was charging ten times what the drug cost him to make. He paid $200 for the radium and charged $2,000 for a small dose of the drug. The sick woman's husband, Heinz, went to everyone he knew to borrow the money, but he could only get together about $ 1,000 which is half of what it cost. He told the druggist that his wife was dying and asked him to sell it cheaper or let him pay later. But the druggist said: "No, I discovered the drug and I'm going to make money from it." So Heinz got desperate and broke into the man's store to steal the drug-for his wife. Should the husband have done that?

Beginning of Term 2

Today we looked at video of wearable art, clothing made from recycled materials. By next Wednesday, be prepared with some ideas and questions for Miss Spillane so that you can begin the designing of your masterpiece.

Secondly, the presentation of your issue will be next Friday. How will you explain the issue? With photographs? Experiments? A rockin' song? Make sure that you keep records in your Science and Technology books.

If the World was a Village of 100 People

This video looks at the world's population in a different light. We live in a world of approx. 6.77 billion people, that's 6,770,000,000. To give you an idea of how big that number is, if a certain boy in the class "accidentally" printed off 6,770,000,000 pages on the photocopier, the stack of paper would stand about 677 km high, extending to the outer limits of Earth's atmosphere, it would cost $270m in black and white copies and would take approximately 214 years to print at 1 page per second.

MATHS ROCKS!

If, however, big numbers fry your mind, this vid takes world statistics and condenses them proportionately, imagining the world to be a village of 100 people.

Watch, reflect and feel free to respond.

Another Blog!

Hurrah! Yet another blog for the class, all we have to do is decide which is better and how we shall use it. I'm thinking that this one is easier to use, so at the moment, it's miles ahead of the old blog frog. Shall go now and play around with add ons. Just added the map of the world. Click on it, so cool!
