Earn and Learn

Welcome to term 3. This term, we are starting a simulation called Earn and Learn where we will earn a wage and learn how to budget. We will also have an opportunity to put our skills to use at the Year 7 Market Day, but more about that later.

This week we are looking into a crystal ball and imagining a fantasy life. What will we dress like in the future? What will our house look like? What car will we drive? Cut out images from magazines or catalogues and glue them into your Earn and Learn book on the corresponding page. This Friday, we will have a show and tell in the class about our aspirations.

MUM Video

Congratulations to all students who contributed with the scripting, acting, prop building, technical sound effects management and costuming for our MUM video. It has been sent into Catchment HQ, and we have received the following reply:

Hi Matthew and 7W

Success!! Thanks so much for your video. It looks as though you have some talented actors there, and a beautifully well behaved class too. No doubt you all had lots of fun with the making of the video. It is roughly 6 minutes long though, so it will need some editing to fit the required length. Are you intending to submit a catchment plan? Some components of your video would fit the bill for the Catchment plan too, as it is creative and dramatic.

Regards
Anne
Catchment HQ

Over the next week, we will complete our Part A and Part B. Keep up the good work!

Galah Day

Good luck to all our teams at the 2009 Galah Day. We will post results here as they come to hand.

Not Fair Day

Thanks for all those delightful students who ensured that at least 15 litres of freezing dirty water shot up my nostrils during my time on the oh so fun dunking machine. Ha ha ha to all of you. I'm now writing out the eighth page of this week's homework...

Fair Day

Today is the day of the fair. Have a great time and enjoy your dance. I am hoping that it warms up a bit or that everyone who has a go at the dunking machine cannot throw straight. I'll be on the machine at 11:30. See you there!

Congratulations team, we came an awesome 249th with our correct accusation! Ok, so we were beaten by 7H (126th) and 7S (223rd), but still, we got it right. As a congratulations, have Monday off.

State of Origin

Good luck to both teams in tonight's game, especially the team in maroon. Tomorrow there will either be 2 really happy blues supporters in the class or 28 happy folk (and one chicken) celebrating a Queensland win.

Issues facing us in the near future

Today we looked at some issues that we may face in the near future, looking at our understandings of the topic, society expectations and the implications. The logo above comes from the Qld government campaign, One Punch Can Kill which was mentioned in our session today. Here's the link to its site...

Week 7

What an action packed week we have ahead.
Firstly, two assignments are due this Friday; your maths board game and your brochure.
Secondly, Murder Under the Microscope is nearing the completion of its first stage and we need to make an accusation this Thursday. Looking at the water analysis SMS, I believe that we're closing in on a villain.
Thirdly, it's bottle week. This is your last year that you can win an all expense paid trip to McDonalds with Mr Monty, so get those bottles in!
Finally, Book Club orders are due this Friday.
Keep smiling!

New Post

Just realised that there hasn't been a post on the blog for a while. Since we're having trouble with "spies" in the room, we'll use this site as a clue gathering spot for Murder Under the Microscope. What ever we do, let's not let the other teams know about the secret clue about the green tree frog and the Eden Lakes development we found in Google Earth at Flooding Creek.
